The best companies in the world to buy... and short...

Editor's note: In today's edition of our weeklong Digest holiday series, we're featuring Carlo Cannell's presentation from our Stansberry Conference Series event in Nashville, Tennessee. Carlo is founder of the Cannell Capital hedge fund, a long/short hedge fund with about $900 million under management...

Carlo gave one of the most memorable investment presentations I've ever seen...

It was at a Value Investing Congress in Los Angeles. He started the presentation with a slide of percentage returns. Most of them were five figures.

Those returns, he explained, were from investing in Vietnamese stocks. In addition to learning how cheap – and opaque – the Vietnamese market was, I also learned the Vietnamese consume more beer per capita than anyone else in the world.

Carlo gave another speech at our Stansberry Conference Series event in Nashville... and he didn't disappoint.

He outlined a number of Warren Buffett-style companies that make for great long-term investments. He also shared several companies that make for great short sales.

On a side note, Carlo is also one of the funniest hedge-fund managers I've ever met. In the video's introduction, I shared an interesting anecdote about an encounter between the two of us. You'll get a better idea of his sense of humor after watching. Enjoy...

Editor's note: If you enjoyed today's Digest, we're giving you the chance to get access to every presentation from our four Stansberry Conference Series events this year... But you can only sign up until Friday.

It will give you access to speeches from oil legend T. Boone Pickens, former congressman Dr. Ron Paul, currency expert Jim Rickards, resource guru Rick Rule, author James Altucher, and many others...

Again, every presentation was recorded by a top-notch film crew... So you don't need to worry about any quality issues.

And if you do sign up, we're granting you live online access to what we think will be the can't-miss investment event of 2015. I can't share many details yet, but I will say many of the most impressive CEOs in the world will be presenting at this show.
