Our 13-city world tour; Slides & video from our webinar on Monday: "An Introduction to Value Investing"; 2 new free webinars on "How to Raise $1 Billion (or not)" and "Lessons from 15 Years of Short Selling"
1. Since we launched Kase Learning in December, investors have been traveling from every corner of the world to attend our programs in NYC, but that's really hard and expensive for most folks, so Glenn and I have decided to go on the road over the next eight months and test 13 markets where we think there's strong interest.
In almost every city, we'll teach our three-day Lessons from the Trenches bootcamp on Monday-Wednesday, then our seminar on How to Launch and Build an Investment Fund on Thursday, and our Advanced Seminar on Short Selling on Friday.
Here's the summary (see attached for the full calendar, which is also posted at: www.tilsonfunds.com/KaseCalendar.pdf):
- London, July 7-11 (Sat.-Wed.) (to register, go to: http://bit.ly/KL-7-18)

(PHEW!)
In addition, for folks who don't live in these cities and/or can't take days off of work, we are going to try a completely new way to teach our programs, via live webinar. We'll be teaching our Lessons from the Trenches investing bootcamp over nine days (2½ hours/day from 7:30-10:00pm NY time) from July 23-Aug. 1 (no class Sunday, July 29), followed by our seminar on How to Launch and Build an Investment Fund from Aug. 2-Aug. 4. It will be the exact same content, but spread over 12 days rather than four, with the same ability to interact with us and fellow students, with the same pricing.
Keep your eye out for an upcoming email for registration links and an early-bird discount offer for the first registrants.
2. The response to the free webinar Glenn and I taught on Monday afternoon on An Introduction to Value Investing was overwhelming, with more than 300 registrants. Attached are our slides (also posted at www.tilsonfunds.com/KaseLearning-IntroValueInvesting.pdf) and we've posted the video on our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/P3g-pXaj8yA.
We presented for an hour – rooted in what we teach in our three-day Lessons from the Trenches bootcamp that we're teaching right now (day 3 is tomorrow, followed by our one-day seminar on How to Launch and Build an Investment Fund on Saturday) – and then took questions for nearly two hours. Some of the most interesting were:
- How can an individual investor compete/succeed?
- How do we evaluate management?
- Why is it that some famous investors go on TV and sound so completely confident about a position, only to end up dramatically wrong?
- Why are many well-known value investors doing poorly?
- What do we think of Micron?
- Did we consider investing in Valeant after it collapsed?
- Why am I friends with Bill Ackman?
- Doesn't one make higher returns investing in companies with a lot of debt?
- How do we decide when to sell a position?
- How do we size positions and do we use the Kelly Formula?
Enjoy!
3. It was fun and easy to do the webinar, so we're doing two more free ones:
A. How to Raise $1 Billion (or not)
Tuesday, June 26, 5:00-7:00pm EST
Rooted in their one-day seminar on How to Launch and Build an Investment Fund, Whitney Tilson and Glenn Tongue of Kase Learning will share the many things they did to grow Kase Capital from $1 million at inception in 1999 to over $200 million in assets under management at its peak in 2010 – and why they should have raised over $1 billion if they'd done a few things differently.

B. Lessons from 15 Years of Short Selling
Wednesday, June 27, 5:00-7:00pm EST
