This Is $10 You'll Never Earn

A couple years ago, I wrote about this substance and received mail that was both incredulous and congratulatory. I still believe that very few people know about the risks of this chemical. And so I write again... But this time, I'll add a public offer (it's a longstanding offer among friends and family).

Prove me wrong and I'll give you $10.

I want you to go into your house tonight and find a label that reads: "DO NOT SWALLOW. AS WITH ALL MEDICATIONS, KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF INFANTS AND CHILDREN."

A second product that reads: "USE ONLY A PEA-SIZED AMOUNT AND SUPERVISE CHILD'S BRUSHING AND RINSING TO MINIMIZE SWALLOWING."

And another label says: "KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN UNDER SIX YEARS OF AGE. IF MORE THAN USED FOR BRUSHING IS ACCIDENTALLY SWALLOWED, GET MEDICAL HELP OR CONTACT A POISON CONTROL CENTER RIGHT AWAY."

By now you've guessed that this product is... toothpaste. And the chemical causing this danger? Fluoride.

Turns out, the FDA requires makers of toothpaste to print these warnings. The frightening thing is the FDA would never allow this stuff on the market if it had to be tested in humans like new drugs are tested today.

Since I wrote my first piece on this topic, the FDA has – at the behest of a law firm – sold its soul and approved a health claim for fluoride in bottled water. The claim language is: "Drinking fluoridated water may reduce the risk of [dental caries or tooth decay]."

That just isn't true. Bizarrely, the claim goes on to say: "In addition, the health claim is not intended for use on bottled water products specifically marketed for use by infants."

So which is it? It works in adults, but not our children? Absurd. And worse... the chemical is toxic.

The chemical in question is called fluorine and is in the same family of chemical elements as chlorine and bromine (think of bleach and pungently bitter-smelling swimming pools and hot tubs). Although a gas in its free state, fluorine rarely occurs that way. It's often combined with other chemicals for commercial uses... It's also a waste byproduct in many industries.

Drug makers and chemical companies use fluorine to create helpful drugs and even dangerous pesticides and poisons. And for more than 60 years, these chemicals have been known to affect human thyroid function indirectly by altering liver and brain activities. Worse than thyroid dysfunction, many fluorinated drugs cause severe side effects to the heart. Cisapride (called Propulsid) is a fluorinated drug that caused heart arrhythmias – so much that it was pulled from the market.

Other fluorinated drugs with a history of killing and maiming humans include: Baycol, fenfluramine (the fen in "fen-phen"), fluoroquinolones (a family of antibiotics), Prozac and Paxil (well-known antidepressants), and the list goes on...

But back to the toothpaste we use and the water we drink.

Shockingly, the water we drink from most U.S. municipal systems is dosed with fluoride. The fluoride that does so many harmful things to human tissues is the same fluoride dumped into water supplies initially as a way to get rid of industrial waste. Seriously, the stuff was controlled by political interests in the aluminum, phosphate, and nuclear industries... to the tune of several billion dollars per year.

The actual cost of producing fluoride is only in the hundreds of millions, but the cost of properly disposing it as a toxic waste is considerably more expensive. And trust me, the fluoride is a toxic waste. The actual compound added to our water is called fluosilicic acid and is made as a sodium salt. The salt, sodium fluosilicate, is also used to make rat and insect poisons, gasoline, light bulbs, plastics, and more.

Why is it in our water? Supposedly, one part per million helps your teeth fend off cavities. But research over the past 70 years shows places where fluoridation has been stopped continue to see the rate of dental decay and related problems decline at the same pace as those places that remained fluoridated. And incidents of cavities decline even faster in areas that stop fluoridation.

Interestingly, research shows that as fluoride levels rise in the water supply, osteoporosis and dental fluorosis – both devastating diseases – rise.

Worse, your dentist gives you and your kids fluoride treatments thinking that it makes your teeth stronger and prevents cavities. But guess what? Science shows that the areas on our teeth where cavities are formed aren't the same areas on your teeth that fluoride makes stronger (cavities attack the crevices, while fluoride works on flat surfaces)... Thus the notion that water laced with fluoride helps prevent tooth decay is also utter rubbish.

Recently declassified documents from WWII regarding fluoride are truly appalling. An American Dental Association article published at the time claimed soldiers who used the fluoride waste in their teeth had reduced cavities... but the REAL SECRET VERSION came out and reported most of the men were left with no teeth. Don't believe me? Read "The Fluoride Deception" by Christopher Bryson.

Europe has banned fluoride in its water. Reputable scientists speak out:

•

"More people have died in the last 30 years from cancer connected with fluoridation than all the military deaths in the entire history of the United States." (Dean Burk, PhD, National Cancer Institute)

•

"Fluoridation is the greatest fraud that has ever been perpetrated." (Albert Schatz, PhD, Nobel laureate)

•   "Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century, if not all time." (Robert Carton, EPA scientist)

The strange thing is that this stuff is highly toxic, equally poisonous as lead. Would you let your kid brush their teeth with lead?

Finally, my standing offer for $10... Show me a peer-reviewed journal where fluoride reduces cavities in a prospective blinded human trial... and the money is yours.

What do I do?

1.

I no longer use fluoride toothpaste. My last visit to the dentist was the first time without a cavity... My dentist even asked me if I was using a special treatment because my teeth looked so strong. Ha!

2.

I use a mouthwash (fluoride-free) and then brush my teeth. Sometimes I'll even use baking soda as my toothpaste.

3.

I'll never let a dentist use fluoride on my teeth again. (Children have died from fluoride treatments in the dentist chair!)

4.

I use hydrogen peroxide three to four times per week to brush my teeth.

5.

I am decreasing the amount of tap water I drink.

6.   I am drinking bottled water and filtered water without fluorine.

Here's to our health,

Dr. David Eifrig Jr.
